History:

Wagoner County Rural Water District #4 was formed on June 19, 1967, under the State's Rural Water Districts Act. It came about as a result of a petition filed with the county clerk by three landowners and residents in the area.

The office is located at 9816 S. 239th East Ave. in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (918-258-2331).

The district is owned by benefit unit holders (tap holders), and a five-member board of directors governs the district. The Board of Directors are Charles Stinnett, Chairman; Gary Rogers, Vice-Chairman; Chad Jester, Secretary-Treasurer; Jim Self, Director; and Terry Hurst, Director.

Management of the district consists of an Operations Manager, Rick Lang and Business Manager, Thomas Faulk. Their respective backgrounds and experience compliment the district's ability to be responsive to the district's needs. It also allows them to establish a meaningful vision for future service and growth.

Rural Water District #4 operates its own water plant and sewer plant. Construction is complete on the water plant expansion that doubled the system's capacity. The new water plant went into service in November 2006. Consistent growth in the district is expected to continue for years to come.

A five-year plan includes upgrades throughout the district that will essentially bring it in line with recommendations that came out of a recent engineering hydraulic study. Many of those upgrades are part of the current "District Wide Improvement Project" that was completed in the Fall of 2011.

Broken Arrow has always been home to the district as its commitment has consistently been "to serve and to grow with the rural community."

Rural Water District #4 belongs to and is active in the Oklahoma Rural Water Association. The district is also a member of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and has participated in many of the chamber's events.

The district's goal is to provide the highest quality potable drinking water to each person in the district and sewer service to that portion of the district currently served.

There are 21 people employed by the district. Each shares a goal of meeting the needs of customers and attaining their complete satisfaction.
